RYA Radar Course
Many yachts have radar fitted but it does not get switched on very often, or the operator is unsure of how to interpret the image being shown, use all the functions correctly and also allow for its limitations .
It is now also a large part of the RYA Yachtmaster Practical exams.
Course Overview
The RYA Radar course is an introduction to the use of radar on small boats as an aid to collision avoidance and navigation. If you have radar on board, the International Regulations for the Prevention of Collisions at Sea state that if you have a radar, you must know how to use it.
Pre-requisite experience
None is required but we do recommend RYA Day Skipper shorebased course or a level of Navigational knowledge up to RYA Day Skipper level.
