Advanced Drills and Skills
This week is aimed at those who are Coastal Skipper or above. Maybe you just wish to refresh your sailing skills and increase your confidence, or perhaps you want to work towards your Yachtmaster Exams.
Many candidates do this week prior to doing the Yachtmaster Preparation Week.
Course overview
The main topics we focus on are:
- Marina handling
- Sailing up to mooring buoys
- Sailing up to mooring buoys
- Man overboard rescues
- Anchoring
- Safety brief
But there is flexibility in the week if there is a specific area you wish to practice.
Although there is no RYA certificate, we will sign your log book to show what you have done during this week

- Accommodation for the duration of the course including the Friday night after the course free of charge and if you need to stay on board on the Saturday night after the course we charge a nominal fee of £15 be aware though that at weekends we may need access to the boats in the day)Welcome drink on arrival

Please note the course commences on the Monday morning but we meet on the Sunday evening before the course at 1830 to settle you onto the boat and give you a short safety brief so everyone is ready to go on the Monday morning.

Before joining the course, students should have the pre-requisite experience outlined above, navigation theory to the level of the RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster theory course and a thorough knowledge of the Collision Regulations.
