Having trouble with your time zones? One of the most problematic areas for students doing the navigation theory courses is the time zones. The confusion comes because of the way it is written in nautical almanacs.
For example we all know that France is one hour ahead of the UK and that in the UK we work with Universal Time (UT). Simple .. so you would think that the time zone for France would be UT+0100 NO!!! – in nautical almanacs it is written UT-0100; it tells us the correction we need to make to the time written to take us back to UT zone.
